Our client’s business is situated in a historic part of Donegal offering relaxed hospitality combined with a quality service. Renowned for their friendly approach, this establishment has a solid reputation of offering excellent service for all occasions, ensuring patrons return time and time again to enjoy their hospitality. They are now seeking to appoint an experienced General Manager to lead and join their team. Main function: The General Manager will be responsible for all aspects of operations at the hotel, to day-to-day staff management & guests while achieving all strategic and financial objectives. Provide leadership and strategic planning to all departments in support of our service culture, maximized operations and guest satisfaction. The position will involve working very closely with the hotel owners. The post holder will be required to build excellent interpersonal relationships with a diverse range of external and internal stakeholders. The General Manager will oversee the day-to-day running of all food and beverage, Spa, front of house and banqueting activity and will manage all department managers and operations managers to ensure that the highest level of customer service and profitability are achieved at all times. They will promote a cost-conscious culture throughout the organisation, while continuously enhancing all services offered through innovative customer services. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Translate organisational strategy into operational reality by engaging, inspiring and encouraging all staff to provide high quality customer services. Responsible for the achievement of a high level of customer service, revenue, profitability and market share. Take responsibility, accountability and ownership of all results, delegated or otherwise. Manage ongoing profitability of the hotels ensuring that customer expectations and financial targets are met and exceeded. Manage resources efficiently and with financial resilience, challenging and addressing any inefficient initiatives. Work with the finance team to provide annual budgets, accurate forecasts and monitor and manage these to meet agreed targets. Responsible for developing operational plans to meet the needs of strategic objectives and income targets. Set and monitor service standards across all areas of operations. Ensure that standard operating procedures are in place and up to date in each department. Contribute to the development of new customer service lines. Ensure that all managers are delivering a high standard of customer service at all times. Act as first point of contact in executing the customer satisfaction and complaints procedures, responsible for scoping the investigation and escalation where necessary. Retain responsibility and accountability for the Hotel & Leisure Centre day to day operations. Embed a cost-conscious culture throughout the business by controlling, reviewing and reporting on KPIs across the organisation. Monitor revenue, purchasing costs, departmental budgets and evaluation against KPIs. Lead on the strategic objective of employee professional development and the creation of high-performance teams. Ensure all hotel reviews, feedback and customer comments are at the highest standards at all times. Oversee the preparation of weekly management reports. Take full responsibility for the general appearance of the premises to include; cleanliness, layout, lighting, music, heating, external premises. This list is not exhaustive. Develop and maintain trusting relationships with external stakeholders to best understand industry trends and to promote the business. Develop and maintain trusting relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure that revenue trends and opportunities are maximised, as well as to update on operational activity. What we are looking for: To be considered for this opportunity, you should have substantial experience in a similar 4 star+ property as a General Manager; Strong financial background to include understanding of budgets, forecasts, GP's is essential; Strong operations experience in F&B is essential; Standards Driven; Be a self-starter who has the capacity to operate with little supervision; Be sales and business focused; A real understanding of customer care and an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of hotel operations; Good communicator who is willing and able to share company goals, provide direction, and foster a sense of empowerment amongst the team to collectively attain business targets; Relevant third level qualification desirable.
